Friday is a dress-up day for everyone.

 

US Naval Academy:  LT Glen Ives will be coming to Vianney for a student visit on Tuesday, January 14 at 2:10 pm.

 

Millikin University is hosting an overnight stay and campus preview on Sunday-Monday, February 16-17.  Get a first hand look at the University and meet with current students and faculty.  See Mr. Lantz, Mr. Meyer or Mrs. Dombek in the Leadership Center for more information.  Bus seats are limited and are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

 

Attention seniors--If your GPA has improved and you have not received an admissions decision from a college, be sure to request your transcript go to that school.  See Ms. Hartz or Mrs. Sodemann with questions.

 

Opening for Pro Life Trip: One student has had to drop out of the Pro Life trip to Washington which leaves an opening. If you are interested in making this pilgrimage to Washington, DC, please apply through Fr. Tim. We can only take one more.

 

Next Student Body Mass:  Anyone interested in helping out on the next student body Mass dedicated to Blessed Chaminade, please see Fr. Tim.

The JV and Varsity teams wrestled in the 47th Annual Vianney Tournament with a number of successful performances. In the JV tournament, 4 wrestlers reached the finals of the tournament, 3 of which are freshman. Jake Pilla, Turner Hutchison, Jim Laaker and sophomore Austin Bollinger all took 2nd place in their respective weight classes. The Varsity Griffins took 2nd place in the team race Andrew Hoffmann and Pat McVey, both going 3-0 on the day to bring home gold medals. Mason McGavock and Sam Leible placed 2nd Shane Bonastia, Charlie Schott, Nick Mataya, Nick Fruend, Cody Sturgill, and Andrew Kurt took third. Rounding off the top four finishes, Ryan Griffin and Dave Craft each took 4th place. Up next Griffins compete Monday night in a home dual against Oakville.

 

Part-time job this upcoming Spring/Summer/Fall: Baseball umpires at Kirkwood Athletic Association and we are hiring umpires for the 2014 season.  We are looking for all levels of experience including those who have no experience at all. The only requirement is that they are at least 13 as of January 1, 2014.  Games are played on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday nights with some occasional weekend games. It is completely based on their availability.  Starting pay is $20/game with no experience and goes up from there. Training will begin in February and the location and times are TBD, however if they email Melissa MacDonald at  macdonald434@gmail.com  for more information and training details.

         
 

Golfers—there will be a pre-season meeting on Wednesday in 306 after school.

 

ALL VARSITY LACROSSE PLAYERS not currently participating in a Winter sport:  Pre-season team lifting and conditioning will begin TUESDAY January 14th at 3:00 in the weight room.  Please dress for drills on the track.  This is required of all trying out for Varsity, but open to all levels.  Questions? The varsity basketball team moved their record to 8-4 on the season with a 60-48 victory over DeSmet on Saturday.  The Griffins open a six game home stand vs. Lindbergh on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
