Tuesday is a dress up day for everyone -- shirts & ties, dress pants and SHOES -- for the Marianist Awards Assembly.

Our first Mandatory Encore grade check is tomorrow. Mandatory Encore will begin on Monday, January 28.

Juniors: You will be receiving information from Balfour in the mail at home regarding ring orders. Reps will be here next week to take your orders. They will be in the Commons at lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday and will also be here on Tuesday evening if your parents want to come up to place orders.

Seniors: You will be receiving information in the mail from Balfour regarding graduation announcements and caps and gowns. The reps will be here the week after next to take those orders. More details will follow.

Griffin Theatre is looking for more than a few good men to usher and serve food at next week's Cabaret production of "All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". Free admission, activity points and even the chance to get a tip or two! The audience will be seated at tables and we serve snacks to them at intermission. See Mrs. Fullenkamp in room 408. Get your name on the list as soon as you can!

Spanish students- If you are, or have been, a Spanish student and you want to brush up on your skills, Mr. Hilliard will be hosting Spanish table in room 301 today during Encore. Come experience various cultural activities and bring your Spanish A-game. This will be a fun, relaxed setting to try your Spanish and be immersed in the language.

Golf: There will be a meeting for anyone interested in playing golf this year today during Encore in 306.

Don't forget that next Tuesday, January 29, is the FAFSA completion workshop in the Media Center at 7pm. Luke Cairney from SLU's Financial Aid office will help you to make sense of this somewhat intimidating process. See you there! Fear not the FAFSA!!!

The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Chamber of Commerce is offering a scholarship for residents of Crestwood or Sunset Hills. It is a merit based scholarship and financial need is not a criteria. Check out more information in the Updates section of Family Connection or see a counselor in the Leadership Center. March 1, 2013 is the deadline!

The MO Insurance Education Foundation will award 4 $1500 scholarships to a senior attending a MO college pursuing a course of study in insurance, risk management, or actuarial science. March 31, 2013 is the deadline. More information is in the Updates section of Family Connection or see a counselor in the Leadership Center.

Pope Pius XII group will meet today during Encore.

Students who will be participating in the Nottingham School basketball game need to turn in permission forms to Mr. C. Walsh in room 305.

Any student interested in off season soccer workouts please meet in coach Gauvain's classroom for a meeting. Tomorrow 2:45 - 3:00.

Anyone interested in trying out for volleyball should come to a meeting on Thursday, January 29 in the Cafe at 3:00.

Congratulations to Vianney's Robotics Club!! With an impressive showing at the Flo Valley Qualification Meet, the Vianney robot beat out 11 other high school teams and finished strong behind the solid driving skills of Jack Lyons and Andrew Boston. Our robot endured six grueling rounds of robotic warfare, and thanks to the skill of our pit crew, the robot held on strong for the entire tournament! Jesse Glass, Brendan Dierkes, Sam Kuhlmeyer, Jeremy Harfst, Jake Velicer, and Adam Hark all did a great job rebuilding an reprogramming the robot between rounds.... Next meeting is Monday January 28th, room 207 to discuss fund raising, future tournaments, and budget...

WEDNESDAY THE JUNIOR VARSITY CHESS TEAM DEFEATED THE LADUE VARSITY TEAM BY THE SCORE OF 22 TO 8. AARON REYNOLDS, TREVOR VOGAN, TIM BOOTH AND JOE WENDL WON FOR THE GRIFFINS.

We are filling all positions; servers, spotters, runners, and cleanup. Please stop by the advancement office today after school to sign up for The Night of the Griffin Auction & Dinner Saturday, February 16th.

Seniors: All seniors need to come to the Media Center over the next couple of days to sign the "Senior Plate" for this year's auction. You need only to come sign the plate and then go on to your usual location.

ALL CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE LACROSSE PLAYERS: Practice gear orders for this season are being sent in this week. If you have not provided sizes for your warm up shirts and shorts you need to get that information to Coach Stein TODAY.

The Marianist Province of the United States offers the Marianist Leadership Scholarship Program at the University of Dayton. Seniors who have a 3.0 GPA and who qualify for entrance into UD are eligible to apply for an annual renewable $4000.00 award. STARS (Students and Teachers as Research Scientists)--for highly talented students interested in college level science research with the best students and scientists in greater St. Louis. STARS will have a booth at the Summer Opportunities Fair this Saturday at John Burroughs School. Great opportunity to network!!!

Bank of America Student Leaders Program--helps students gain a greater understanding of how nonprofits create impact in the community. An eight week paid internship with a nonprofit organization includes the week-long, all-expense paid trip to the Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. from July 8-12, 2013. Application deadline is January 25, 2013.

Camp Cardiac-St. Louis--a one week summer day camp interested in exploring careers in medicine.

University of Missouri Mini Med School (juniors only)--one week program that gives students a preview of life as an MU medical student. Application deadline is March 1, 2013.

Naval Academy Summer Seminar (juniors only)--six day experience for high achievers teaching participants about life at the Naval Academy where academics, athletics, and professional training play equally important roles in developing our nation's leaders. Application deadline is April 1, 2013.
