A good night for the Griffin Hockey team last night at Queeny ice rink. A 5-1 win in the opening playoff game against Ladue. See the link  from STL Today Sports, on the Vianney Website. This Saturday at 10:30 pm when Vianney plays Fort Zumwalt South at Webster Groves Ice Arena.

 

  1.  ALL LACROSSE PLAYERS:  Saturday Conditioning continues onSATURDAY JANUARY 31st in the weight room.  Conditioning is open to ALL players from 8:00-9:30.    

 

    2.  All Lacrosse Players who ordered helmets for the 2015 season.  The helmets and decals have arrived.  Please see Coach Stein in ROOM 308 immediately after school today to get your gear.

 

Marianist Vocation Retreat:   Have you ever thought about what it might be like to serve the Church in the United States or in other parts of the world as a Marianist priest or brother? There will be a Marianist Vocation Discernment Retreat for students from Marianist high schools that will take place at the end of February. This retreat is free and a great opportunity just to learn more about the Marianists and to think about your future. For more information, see Father Tim or Brother Roy.

Baptism Class:  If you are a student who has never been baptized and would like to enter the Catholic Church, you can sign up for a class that will meet once a week during the season of Lent, which begins February 18. For more information, see Father Tim

 

Juniors---Thinking about the Naval Academy for your college destination?  The USNA Summer Seminar is a 6 day experience that teaches students about life at the Naval Academy.  Experience in this program MAY enhance your opportunity to attend the Naval Academy.  See Ms. White or Mrs. Sodemann in the Leadership Center for more information.

Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors--Summer STEM camp at the Naval Academy will challenge students to think scientifically, problem-solve creatively, and work cooperatively in teams.  Gain insight into life at the US naval Academy.  See your counselor in the Leadership Center for more information.

Juniors--If you picked up a Boy's State information sheet at the last class meeting, please contact Ms. White or Mrs. Sodemann.  If you may be interested in Boy's State and would like more information, please stop by the Leadership Center.

 

"Tickets for the sophomore and varsity basketball games vs. Chaminade on Friday, January 30 are on sale for $5.00. The game times are 4:30 for the sophomore game and 6:00. Come out and support the SQUAD!!!

 

the Avionics club will meet every afternoon this week in room 207 to complete the initial design package for our glider.   See Mr. Prost for more information

 

Griffin Theatre will present Aesop's (Oh So Slightly Updated) Fables and The Three Wolves and the Big Bad Pig this weekend. Performances are on Friday evening at 7:30 pm, Saturday at 2  and 7:30 pm and on Sunday at 2 pm. This is a cabaret style show, so the audience is seated at tables close to the stage. Refreshments are served to your table at intermission. Tickets are $4 for students. General admission is $5. Make your reservation by seeing Ms. Thompson, Mr. Book or on the Vianney website.

 

Seniors--Check out the St. Louis Graduates scholarship list on Naviance.  There are several scholarships that have upcoming deadlines that you can still apply for.  There can be money for you to help with college expenses.  See your counselor for more information.

 

The MOIHA (Missouri Inline Hockey Association)begins its season with The Tour Breakout Tournament in early March. League play starts in March & runs through the end of April. The season consist of 14 league Games. Playoff-eligible teams will compete for the State Championship in May. Games are played at MidWest in Queeny Park, All-American in S. County and Matteson’s in St Peters

Seniors--Do you have a parent who is currently a member of an active, guard or reserve component of the US Army, The AUSA scholarship program may be in your future. More details in the Leadership Center.

 

Seniors interested in engineering--The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers will award $1000 scholarships to students with a 3.0 GPA and an ACT of 29 in Math and 25 in English.

 

The University of Dayton is offering the Marianist Leadership Scholarship of $4000 to students with a  3.0 GPA. More details in the Leadership Center.

 

Optimist International is offering an essay contest and an oratorical contest to compete for scholarships up to $2500.  More details in the Leadership Center.

 

Juniors interested in a career in medicine-- the University of Missouri offers a 'Mini Medical School" which is one week  of experience in the summer.  More details in the Leadership Center.

 

the undefeated SMMA elite basketball team takes on st. Clement tonight at 8:30 at St. Clement. its a blue out come support the squad.
