Reminder to all those interested in participating in the Peru Service Project, stop by to see Ms Palazzolo or Mr Buehrle sometime today or tomorrow to RSVP. The meeting is tomorrow night at 6pm in the Griffin Cafe. Just convince your parents to come, we’ll convince them to let you go to Peru.

Today we begin Cancer Awareness Week with Lung Cancer Awareness. Thank you to all the Griffins who helped by donating today. Lung cancer starts when cells of the lung become abnormal and begin to grow out of control. As more cancer cells develop, they can form into a tumor and spread to other areas of the body. The most common cause for lung cancer is smoking which fills the lungs with carcinogens. The 5 year survival rate is considerably lower than many other cancers at only 17.7%. We will be wearing the color white to support research that will hopefully lea to someday cure this disease. Thank you for your support. Tomorrow we support Lymphoma Awareness by wearing Red.

Congratulations to the cast & crew of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten on a successful run this past weekend. The cast will head out this week for performances at eight area elementary schools.

The sophomore and varsity basketball team completed a sweep on Friday at Cape Notre Dame with the sophomores pulling out an overtime victory over the Bulldogs.  Jacob Craig led the way with 21 points and Hunter Koenig hit some clutch free throws down the stretch.  After a 13 day lay off the Varsity basketball team knocked off Notre Dame 62-44 as a 21-10 third quarter keyed the victory.  Colin Braun, CJ Paul, and Josh Kleinheider all scored in double figures for the Griffins.  This week is Jesuit Week as Vianney travels to DeSmet on Tuesday night and hosts SLUH on Friday night in the annual Paint It Pink Game at 7 pm

Paint It Pink TShirts will be on sale this week in the Griffin Gear Store.  Tshirts cost $10 and all proceeds will go to the Hope Lodge--a residential facility for cancer patients supported by the American Cancer Society.

***Black History Month Trivia for a “Go to the front of the line at lunch” Pass: What was the first institution of higher education founded for African-Americans in the United States and which state was it located in?

If you would like to help out on the Father Son Mass this Wednesday, please see Fr. Tim at Encore today.

The “Official” Track and Field sign up and information meeting will be next Tuesday immediately after school in room 304.  All interested must make plans to attend as we will be going over the practice and meet schedule for the season.

Happy birthday to freshman, Alex Gaither and junior, Luke Miller.  We hope that you both have a great day on you special day.  Those are your Monday morning announcements.  Make it a great day to be a Griffin!
