The Griffin Roar

Tuesday February 7th

All this week, Student Council is raising awareness for a deadly set of diseases that affect millions of Americans every year. Today’s special awareness is for Leukemia. Here are some of the key things you should know about this form of cancer:

  • Most common cancer in people under 20.
  • There are an estimated 345,442 people in the US living with, or in remission from, leukemia
  • In 2008-2012, leukemia was the 5th most common cause of cancer deaths in men and 6th most common in women in the US

Your donations this week will help foster additional research to help stop this deadly disease. Thank you Griffins for your support.

Don’t forget to sign up in the Advancement Office to work on Auction Night.  There are a few volunteer spots left to fill.  It’s a fun night and a great way to earn service hours.

Juniors:  This is a reminder that your completed SSP Applications are due TWO WEEKS from TODAY, Feb. 21.  If you are completing SSP at the YWCA in Kirkwood (behind Walmart) you MUST see Mrs. Mitchell before the end of encore TODAY in 104 for the necessary paperwork.

We will have an informational and sign up meeting for the track and field team for 2017 on Tuesday during Encore in room 304.  All interested athletes must attend this meeting

Any CURRENT FRESHMAN interested in the traveling to IRELAND in OCTOBER of 2017, come to ROOM 404 after school on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 8th for a brief introductory meeting.
