Vianney Daily Bulletin

Tuesday, February 20:

Spring sports will begin on Monday, February 26. You must have a current physical on file to participate on the first day. You can go to the athletic webpage or visit with one of the following coaches regarding this information. Coach Sargent for tennis, Coach Hoge for volleyball, Coach Brown for baseball, Coach Owens for golf, coach Mohr for track.

Last Wednesday the Varsity Chess Team defeated the Westminster Wildcats by the score of 19 to 11.  Paul Nicholson, Brandon Stanfield, Lucas Mead and Hans Mohr scored for the Griffins.  Last Saturday the Varsity Chess Team won the Gateway Action Tournament at Saint Louis University.  Logan Kammerer, Paul Nicholson, Brandon Stanfield, Lucas Mead and Hans Mohr scored for the Griffins.

For those interested in playing Ultimate Frisbee this year there will be a meeting on Thursday after school in Room 104. If you intend to play this year you must be at the meeting!

Your Vianney racquetball JV3 squad played in the State Championship this past weekend. With hard effort, your Griffins finished 4th in the State. Individual winners were Nathan Szewczyk finished for 3rd place, and Andrew Copeland finished 2nd. Congratulations Griffins! The Varsity and JV 2 teams play this coming weekend for the State Championship. Come out and support your fellow Griffins.

Attention juniors:  There are only a few spots left in the upcoming ACT course.  If you’d like to take that course, sign up as soon as possible.  Also, please note that it now starts on March 1 instead of February 28.

There’s been a lot of confusion about what goes on at Ping Pong Club. The Ping Pong Club is a club where we play ping pong. You should come by and play after school today.

All new and returning TENNIS players, there is a mandatory parent meeting February 22nd at 6:30 pm in the Media Center.  At least one parent should be present.  Any questions, please see Mr. Sargent.

Griffin Theatre will hold auditions for the spring musical Young Frankenstein tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm in room 503. No previous experience is necessary, only a desire to work hard and have fun while bringing this Mel Brooks classic to the stage. See Mr. Book if you have any questions.

Congratulations to senior C.J. Paul who broke the Vianney basketball single game scoring record on Friday night in a loss to Chaminade.  CJ scored 41 points breaking the mark set in 1988 by Trent Green.  CJ also set a school record with 8 three point field goals made and tied a school record with 16 total field goals.  The Griffins travel to Borgia tonight for a 7:15 tip off.  Thursday night is senior night as Vianney hosts CBC and will honor seniors:  John Bauer, Derek Book, Mikey Bishop, Colin Braun, CJ Paul and Matt Springer.
