Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, is a Dress Up Day for Mass.   Seniors will not be going out for lunch on Ash Wednesday.

 

The Freshman Class Meeting will be held today, Those that are assigned to Mandatory Encore need to report to Mandatory Encore.

 

Attention juniors in the ACT course:  There is no ACT class after school today.  This week's classes will be on Wednesday and Thursday. 

 

Junior Retreat:  The roster of names of students signed up for the Junior  retreat is posted on the campus ministry bulletin board and the campus ministry office window. There will be  a meeting for all students attending the retreat on Friday during Encore. If you have any questions, please see either Fr. Tim or Mr. Remiger

 

Eucharistic Minister Meeting Today:  There is a meeting for all of the seniors who are communion ministers in the chapel today during Encore in preparatioin for tomorrow's mass and your assistance today at lunch time. Please see Fr. Tim if for some reason you cannot attend. 

 

Wonder why Catholics give stuff up for Lent, why we don't eat meat on Friday's during Lent? Do you have other questions about the season of Lent? Come to our Lentstravaganza this Tuesday at 5:30 in the Marianist Lobby. There will be food, there will be cake. That's right...cake. Who doesn't love cake?

 

SATURDAY THE VARSITY CHESS TEAM WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT IN COLUMBIA.  THE TOP SCORERS FOR THE GRIFFINS WERE NICK KREITNER AND ALEX FOLEY ON BOARD 1, JACK LYONS ON BOARD 2, ANDREW KREKELER, WITH A PERFECT 4 AND 0 RECORD, AND AARON REYNOLDS ON BOARD 3, AND NIKITA THOMPSOPN, WITH A PERFECT 4 AND 0 RECORD, AND NATHAN MITTENZWEY ON BOARD 4.  SATURDAY THE FRESHMAN CHESS TEAM TIED FOR FIRST PLACE IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT.  THE TOP SCORERS FOR THE GRIFFINS WERE GAGE KRAMER, MARSHALL HARNEY, JACOB FARRELL, CONNOR GRZOVIC AND SAM NELSON.

 

Attention parents of juniors and sophomores--Join Tim Eggelston, the University of Missouri's St. Louis area representative as he presents "College Planning 101" in the Vianney Media Center on Thursday  at 7 pm.  It's not too early to begin college planning!  See you there!

 

Interested in speaking with Vianney Alumni, helping your school and eating good food? Consider joining Student Foundation. Student Foundation is a select group of students who will play an important role in aiding the Vianney Advancement Team by promoting the events and positive news regarding students, alumni and faculty. This includes phone-a-thons and thank-a-thons. This opportunity is open to all grade levels. Applications are in Ms. Walsh's office.  

 

Sophomores--The Youth Leadership St. Louis application is due this week.  But why wait?  If you have it completed, please return it to Mrs. Sodemann in the Leadership Center.  If you want to pick up an application, please see Mrs. Sodemann in the hall way or in the Leadership Center.

 

Volleyball tryouts will be held today at 4:30 pm in the Field House.

 

Yearbook photos will be taken today during Encore for all levels of Student Council and Spanish and German Honor Societies. Please meet in the Marianist lobby.

All wrestlers equipment  was due to be turned in last Monday if you did not turn your team gear in you must return it today.

 

Tech Club:  This week we dispel the myth of computer magic.  Interested to know how video games really work?  Come learn to code in Python.  Friday at 2:45 

 

The track and field team will all meet in the activity center today at 3:00 pm.  please be dressed to workout.

 

Volleyball tryouts for all levels will be on Tuesday, March 4th at 5:00pm in the Field House.

 

The varsity basketball team closed out their regular season with a 53-44 win over Vashon on Friday night. The team had a balanced scoring attack led by Kyle Markway's 12 points. The win moves the team's record to 15-10 on theseason.  District tournament action tips off tonight at 7:30 at Kirkwood. Let's fill the Kirkwood gym with
Griffin-maniacs dressed in your black and gold. The Kirkwood fans will be there in full force. Will you?
