Operation Food Search is an organization which supplies food pantries across our area.  National Honor Society will be collecting canned food each day this week to benefit those for whom getting enough to eat is not always certain.  Bring your donations to your first hour class where they will be collected by members of NHS.

 

All members of the Spanish Honor Society--check the list outside room 408 to confirm that you are a member and be sure to come for yearbook pictures when it is announced. See Mrs. Fullenkamp if you have questions.

 

Attention juniors in the ACT course:  This week's classes will be today and Thursday. 

 

Junior Retreat:  The roster of names of students signed up for the Junior  retreat is posted on the campus ministry bulletin board and the campus ministry office window. There will be  a meeting for all students attending the retreat on Friday during Encore. If you have any questions, please see either Fr. Tim or Mr. Remiger

 

Interested in speaking with Vianney Alumni, helping your school and eating good food? Consider joining Student Foundation. Student Foundation is a select group of students who will play an important role in aiding the Vianney Advancement Team by promoting the events and positive news regarding students, alumni and faculty. This includes phone-a-thons and thank-a-thons. This opportunity is open to all grade levels. Applications are in Ms. Walsh's office.  

 

Tech Club:  This week we dispel the myth of computer magic.  Interested to know how video games really work?  Come learn to code in Python.  Friday at 2:45 

 

TUESDAY THE VARSITY CHESS TEAM DEFEATED PARKWAY NORTH BY THE SCORE OF 22 TO 8.  JACK LYONS, NIKITA THOMPSON, ANDREW KREKELER AND NATHAN MITTENZWEY SCORED FOR THE GRIFFINS.

 

The varsity basketball team lost last night to Kirkwood in district semifinal action to close their season with a record of 15-11. Give a hug or high five to seniors Tanner Cochran and JJ Mandina for their excellent leadership this season.

 

From Guidance:

  • Interested in a career in the business of sports?  Learn more with a presentation by Blues executives which includes a ticket to the Blues vs. Dallas Stars game on Saturday, March 29.  Prices start at $35.  See a counselor in the Leadership Center for more information.
  • Attention seniors:  Several new scholarships have been added to the Scholarship List on the Colleges tab of Naviance Family Connection including the St. Norbert Knights of Columbus, the Charles Frees, Jr. Educational Fund, the Kirkwood Rotary Club, and Royal Banks.  Amounts vary from $500-$2000 and don't always require an essay.  Check them out on Family Connection or see your counselor in the Leadership Center.
  • The Larry Carp Memorial Scholarship supporting educational attainment for a deserving immigrant or child of an immigrant is for $1000 and is renewable for all four years of college.  More information is on Naviance Family Connection or see your counselor in the Leadership Center.
  • iD Tech Camp (Game Design, Programming, Film) will be held at Washington University this summer.  Pick up a brochure from Mr. McAllister in the Tech Center or in the Leadership Center.
  • Attention parents of juniors and sophomores--Join Tim Eggelston, the University of Missouri's St. Louis area representative as he presents "College Planning 101" in the Vianney Media Center on Thursday  at 7 pm.  It's not too early to begin college planning!  See you there!
