St. John Vianney High School has named Kelly Slattery as the new Assistant Principal for Academics beginning at the start of the 2018-19 school year.
Slattery is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and has served as the Principal of St. Gabriel the Archangel K-8 for the past three years.
"Bringing Kelly's experience, knowledge and professionalism to Vianney will help us in our mission of forming young men," St. John Vianney High School Principal Ian Mulligan said. "She will help support our students and teachers to become even more successful in the classroom. Kelly cares deeply about students, works to serve the community around her and is committed to Catholic education. We had a tremendous pool of candidates for this position and we are excited that she has decided to join us."
Slattery began her career teaching English in the Teach for America program, followed by various leadership roles in Denver public schools.
Slattery is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia (undergraduate) and University of Missouri-St. Louis (graduate-level).
During her time as principal, Slattery has created and implemented multi-year plans that improved the school's curriculum as well as the availability and use of technology in classrooms. As an experienced instructional leader, she will also be an excellent resource and leader for our faculty when it comes to student learning, Mulligan said.
Dennis Matreci has been serving as the interim Assistant Principal – Curriculum & Instruction for the second semester.
