St. John Vianney High School

Atwood named Griffin of the Year

Grant Atwood wasn't feeling very good on Thursday morning. He was feeling bad enough, in fact, that he went home sick prior to the Seniors Honors Convocation when he was set to be honored with several awards.

Atwood had to called and asked to come back to school to be present at the annual awards ceremony to receive a very special award — the 2019 Griffin of the Year award.

The Griffin of the Year award voting begins with the members of the senior class voting for one of their classmates to receive the honor. That voting determines the final few candidates, who are then voted on by faculty and staff.

Atwood was selected as the Griffin of the Year because of his strong resume of academic achievement, leadership (he was a member of Student Council and an Ambassador, among other activities) and service.

Congratulations to 2019 Griffin of the Year Grant Atwood.
