2017 Alumni Giving Challenge

Alumni Giving Challenge

Welcome to the Vianney Alumni Challenge 2017

Starting Monday, May 15, 2017 and continuing until 11:59pm on Monday, May 22 the classes of 1961-2011 are engaged in a friendly competition to see which class can achieve the highest giving percentage.  The goal of this challenge is participation – individual donors, not dollars raised.

As an added incentive the St. John Vianney High School Alumni Association has issued a $2,500 Matching Gift for this Challenge.  Any gift made to the Griffin Fund between May 15-22 will be matched up to $250.  This Matching Gift Challenge includes your personal contribution, as well as any corporate match your employer may provide.

Why does Vianney host the Alumni Giving Challenge?

Alumni support is a key factor in the success and growth of St. John Vianney High School.  Not only is alumni giving percentage a “vote of support” in one’s alma mater, it impacts the amount of financial support  foundations and major donors provide Vianney.  At Vianney, class giving, as a matter of participation, has lagged behind many of our peer schools, however last fiscal year Vianney had more alumni donors than any year in the past thanks to our loyal alumni leaders.

Where does my gift go?

For this campaign, we are asking alumni to make an investment in St. John Vianney High School through the Griffin Fund.  The Griffin Fund ensures that Vianney students are offered the best education at a top-notch institution. However, if you would like to invest in one of our scholarship funds, you can designate your gift by selecting that fund under Donate Now.

Explain the $2,500 Matching Grant.

Each donation made to Vianney during the Alumni Giving Challenge May 15-22, 2017 will be worth double the amount.   Donors who work for companies that match their giving can triple the amount of their donation that day!  Click here to see if your company matches your giving to St. John Vianney High School.

Does each class start at “Zero” on Day 1?

No. We want to reward those classes that have achieved significant annual giving to date.  Therefore, giving percentages on Day 1 will include any gifts made during our current fiscal year.  Fiscal year to date gifts include any gifts made between 7/1/2016 and 5/14/2017.

What if I already gave?

Thank you for your support of the young men at Vianney!  Your gift has been counted in the challenge.  But there is an extra incentive for another gift.  Anyone who makes a repeat gift (i.e., gifts made by those class members who have donated between 7/1/2016 and 5/14/2017) will get a bonus by being counted again.  So, one individual can be counted as two participants. Only 1 extra gift per person will count.

How much should I contribute?

Participation is the goal of this campaign.  Every gift has an impact on the young men at Vianney.  If you have supported Vianney in the past, please consider matching your past level of support.  If you have already given this year or if this is your first gift to Vianney, consider an investment of $20, $30 or more.
