Kevin Walsh Named Interim Principal at Vianney;

Search Underway for Permanent Principal

Plan Calls for New Principal for the 2017-2018 School Year


KIRKWOOD, MO. (June 15, 2016)St. John Vianney High School today announced that Kevin Walsh, Vianney social studies teacher, a 1991 alumnus and varsity basketball coach will serve as interim principal beginning July 1, 2016 and through the 2016-2017 school year while a search committee identifies the next permanent principal for the school. Tim Dilg, current Vianney principal, has resigned to take a position as assistant superintendent for the Clayton School District.

Mike Loyet, president of Vianney, noted, “Kevin Walsh is the perfect leader for the interim principal job. Kevin served as our assistant principal for five years from 2007-11. He embodies the principles and character we strive to form in our students. He’s the exceptional leader we want as interim principal.” Walsh will continue coaching the Vianney varsity basketball team.

Donald Eggleston, a retired corporate vice president for Mission Integration for SSM Health Care and member of the Vianney Board of Directors, will lead the search team for the new Vianney principal. 

The team will include Loyet and members of the school teaching staff, student body, alumni and community advisors. The goal is to have a principal in place by July 1, 2017.

David Woods, incoming Chairperson of the Vianney Board of Directors said, “We are very fortunate that both Don and Kevin have agreed to these significant leadership roles. I have known Kevin a long time as a dedicated family man with an exceptional commitment to Vianney and our students. Kevin will serve Vianney well in this role. Also, Don has the business and educational expertise, as well as experience in the Vianney community, to lead the effort to recruit, identify and secure the best person for this position.”

Loyet further commented, “We thank Tim Dilg for his contributions to Vianney and wish him every success in his new position. We have before us an opportunity to take Vianney to even greater successes. We focus our energy on and commitment to Kevin’s leadership in the interim, and to the successful search for our new principal.”
