A large group of grade school students and their families braved the heat to see some brand new editions to the Vianney campus, hear from Griffin students and watch the football team open the new season with a big win!
Over the summer, St. John Vianney High School made significant upgrades to our facility. Thanks to generous donations, our weight room was completely renovated with all new state-of-the-art equipment. A huge step was taken as the original walls of classrooms around our entire building were replaced with a beautiful brick fascade and energy efficient windows. Part of that process also updated the HV/AC units in classrooms, opening up more space and becoming more efficient. The world-famous Griffins' Cafe was given a facelift as well with new flooring and space opened up as well.
After seeing those upgrades up-close, families enjoyed some refreshments in the Griffin Cafe as they heard some great insights and advice about high school from current Griffins. The group of students took questions on a variety of topics, and gave some great answers.
"Make sure you visit whatever schools you are looking at," said Senior Anthony Schrader. "When you are in the right place, you will know it. When I took a shadow day at Vianney, it just clicked."
After all of that, everyone headed outside to Don Heeb field and saw a great performance from the Griffin football team. A big 42-28 win opened the Head Coach Paul Day era, while Markel Smith continued his march through the record books with 291 total yards and four touchdowns.
Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy this great day, and remember everyone is welcome to join us on campus when we have games, events and other activities! Contact Admissions Director Tom Mulvihill '04 at 314-965-4853 ext. 142 or email at email@example.com.
