All sophomores not assigned to Mandatory Encore should report to the field house at Encore this morning to pick up ID cards. Sophomores in ME can pick up ID cards in the office after school.

Seniors --
1. Are you the son or grandson of a military veteran? The American Legion is offering several scholarships valued from $500 to $1500. Find out more on the Updates section of Naviance Family Connection or see a counselor.
2. Would you like $1000? Vantage Credit Union is sponsoring the Quest For Education Scholarship. Financial need, ACT score, class rank and GPA are NOT considered when awarding this scholarship. More information can be found in the LLC, on Naviance Family Connection or talking with a counselor.

Anyone who is interested in becoming an Athletic Ambassador should meet under the Alumni Pavilion today during encore.

The next meeting of the National Honor Society will be held during encore on Tuesday in Room 105. All members should attend, as we will be planning for future events.

There was a good turnout last Thursday of those who are interested in the Close Up trip to Washington, D.C. in February. More brochures about the program are in and can be picked up in Room 204 if might still be thinking of joining us. Those who made the meeting who want a brochure should stop by Room 204 today.

Attention all new and previously inducted members of the Spanish Honor Society; There is a mandatory meeting on Thursday, September 20 during Encore in room 503--note--the meeting is in room 503. We will induct new members and make plans for Hats on Day. The membership list for the society is posted outside room 408. See Mrs. Fullenkamp if you have questions.

Attention juniors and seniors: There are still a few spots left in the ACT course that starts this Wednesday. Students who have taken the course improve by an average of 3 points. One Vianney student went from a 23 to a 29; another went from a 20 to a 24. If you are taking the October test and want to maximize your score, see Mr. Meyer in the counseling office to sign up.

Justice Immersion Retreat for Juniors and Seniors: Juniors and Seniors interested in going to Chicago Oct. 26-28 to participate in a a social justice retreat may apply through Fr. Tim. Time will be given for prayer and reflection while working directly with the poor. Pick up a flyer with information and consider applying during the month of September. This may count for your annual retreat at Vianney IF you are unable to make the class retreat dates work for you. Limited enrollment.

Student Service Hours Available this Saturday: This Saturday the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center will hold a Trivia Night here at Vianney. We are looking for a few good men who would like to do some service work and obtain service points by working on this night. This is a fun night to work and if you happen to be behind in your service hour commitments, please consider. Sign up with Fr. Tim or Mr. Dailey.

The Varsity soccer team took control early and controlled play in Saturday night's clash vs. the Oakville Tigers. It was senior Ryan Murphy who netted two goals as the Soccer Griffs defeated Oakville 2-0. Fellow senior Michael Allen gets the shutout in goal and in front of a stellar Griffin defense & an exceptionally loud crowd. The varsity soccer team plays in the CYC Tournament this week. Monday night vs. Rock Bridge @ 6:00, Tuesday night vs. Duchesne @ 6:00, and Wednesday vs. Webster @ 4:15.

The Freshman Soccer Team defeated Oakville on Saturday by the score of 2-0. Jonathan Antonacci scored the first goal assisted by Austin Tapella and Luke Basler scored the second assisted by Nick Wiss. Tom Marshall recorded the shutout.

Seniors: The Horatio Alger Association provides financial assistance to students who have a financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarships range from $5000 to $20,000. More information can be found on the Guidance bulletin board, on Family Connection or see a counselor.

Manmaker Hill at the Hazelwood Central Invitational is always a proving ground for area runners and this weekend a couple Griffins almost tamed it. Eddie Albarran finished fifth in the varsity race, shaving almost 30 seconds off of last year's pace. Jimmy Broyles made quick work of his brief stint on JV to take 1st place in a phenomenal race. Freshman Joe Nelson took 17th overall in the frosh race but had the entire team's eighth best time. Next up is the historic Hancock Invitational Saturday at Jefferson Barracks Park.

RACQUETBALL: If you are interested in Playing or being involved in Racquetball this year the first informational meeting will be This Wednesday (Sept 19th) at 2:50 pm. in room 310. Please show up to receive information about the upcoming season.
