MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH

The varsity soccer team won the CBC Soccer Tournament on Saturday by defeating DeSmet 1-0.  Tommy Mataya got the first half goal assisted from Charlie Burford. Kyle Diffley behind a stingy Griffin defense earned the shutout. Congrats to the soccer team!

The Politics Club will meet in 108 during Encore this morning.

The fishing Club will have a short meeting in Room 402 immediately at the start of Encore.  Congratulations again to Jacob Craig for catching the first and biggest fish yesterday at the first outing of the year.

Ambassadors- please check your email for your events that you signed up for.  Most events have been sent but there are still a few to be sent. You may not have gotten every event that you signed up for due to some events having such a large request.

Play chess at encore in room 209.  Chess intramurals continue this week with round three competition Thursday.  New players are welcome. See Mr. Matreci in the leadership center for details.  Round two winners were Dominic Caputa and Derian Ryker.

In Griffin Cross Country news: The Harriers competed in the Affton Invitational Saturday at Willmore Park.  Christopher Joseph medaled for the second week in a row leading the varsity squad to a 5th place finish. Calvin Curran, Jake Kellar, Nolan Worely, and John Wolf all medaled to pace the JV squad to a 2nd place finish.  Most every runner ran to a season or career best mark. Next up is the Fox Invitational on Friday.

Attention juniors and seniors:  Are you taking the October ACT? The first ACT prep courses of the year will be starting on Wednesday.  The course right after school is full, but there is still space left in the evening course. See Mr. Meyer in the counseling office for more information.

Griffin Theatre will hold auditions for 1776 this coming Wednesday evening at 7 pm. See Mr. Book in room 503 for more information.

If you are interested in purchasing Under Armour basketball shoes at a discounted rate for the upcoming basketball season or you would like to purchase some authentic Vianney basketball gear, stop by room 501 and see Coach Walsh during encore today.

The inaugural meeting of the Lettermen’s club will take place in Room 501 during Encore on Thursday.  If you have earned a freshman, JV, or Varsity letter, congratulations you have earned status as a member of the Lettermen’s club.  Come by Room 501 on Thursday to find out what’s in store for this year.

STUCO would like to thank everyone who participated last week in spirit week and attended the dance on Saturday! STUCO will have more events for you all year so see your rep if you have any ideas how to make this year a great year to be a griffin.
