If you will 18 on or before Election Day, Nov. 6, and would like to vote in the election, see Mr. Matreci in the office to register by October 10. Also, seniors, if you are 18 and want to be considered for any federal financial aid for college, you must register with Selective Service. You can also do that with Mr. Matreci anytime.

The Vianney College Fair will be held this Thursday night from 7-8:30. There will be 130 colleges on our campus, so please make time to attend. This is a great opportunity for all the Vianney students, Freshmen through Seniors. Check out the list of you received in your school e-mail.

Attention all new and previously inducted members of the Spanish Honor Society; There is a mandatory meeting on Thursday during Encore in room 503--note--the meeting is in room 503. We will induct new members and make plans for Hats on Day. The membership list for the society is posted outside room 408. See Mrs. Fullenkamp if you have questions.

Justice Immersion Retreat for Juniors and Seniors: Juniors and Seniors interested in going to Chicago Oct. 26-28 to participate in a a social justice retreat may apply through Fr. Tim. Time will be given for prayer and reflection while working directly with the poor. Pick up a flyer with information and consider applying during the month of September. This may count for your annual retreat at Vianney . Limited enrollment.

Student Service Hours Available this Saturday: This Saturday the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center will hold a Trivia Night here at Vianney. We are looking for a few good men who would like to do some service work and obtain service points by working on this night. This is a fun night to work and if you happen to be behind in your service hour commitments, please consider. Sign up with Fr. Tim or Mr. Dailey.

Seniors: The Horatio Alger Association provides financial assistance to students who have a financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarships range from $5000 to $20,000. More information can be found on the Guidance bulletin board, on Family Connection or see a counselor.

RACQUETBALL: If you are interested in Playing or being involved in Racquetball this year the first informational meeting will be today at 2:50 pm. in room 310. Please show up to receive information about the upcoming season.

CHESS INTRAMURALS CONTINUE THIS WEEK. PRACTICES ARE SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM 209, AND ROUND THREE COMPETITION IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM 209. AS ALWAYS NEW PLAYERS ARE WELCOME.

There will be a short Close Up meeting on Friday during Encore in Room 204 for those who have shown interest in going to Washington, D.C. in February on the Close Up Program. If you did not make last week's meeting but would still like to get moe information on this interactive program with students from around the country, then join us on Friday in Room 204. Donald Ewart, Brady Dickison and Mason Brobeck are to see Mr. Travis in room 204 sometime today.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Check out the guidance bulletin board for 2 exciting evening programs coming up very soon. Learn about the Colleges That Change Lives on Monday, September 24 at Lindbergh High and/or attend an information session on Monday, October 15 with representatives from Dartmouth, Northwestern, Princeton, Cal-Berkeley and Vanderbilt. Griffin LIFE will meet tonight from 5:30-7:30 in the Marianist Lobby. Our topic will be "Prayer in our Lives." Please attend.

There will be a meeting for all new and former members of the Science Honor Society on Friday, September 21, in room 105 during encore.

Mr. Cochran will be selling student athletic event passes at all lunches on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21. Each pass is $25.00. Students will need to bring their "Student ID"; the passes will go on the back of the ID. Seniors, use last year's ID if you did not receive one with your senior pictures.

The Griffin Swimmers are back in action today against the Affton Cougars. The meet is at Affton High School at 4:15.

 

The Freshman Soccer team rebounded from their first loss of the season to defeat Rockwood Summit 1-0 yesterday. Alex Kammien scored the goal and Colin Knox recorded the shutout.

The varsity soccer team defeated Duchesne last night by a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by junior Michael Albes and Senior Vince Riggio. Michael Allen gets the shutout in goal. A win today at 4:15 vs Webster would vault the Soccer Griffs into Fridays semifinals of the CYC tournament.

Well, it took two weeks but the B-soccer Jr. Griffins finally closed-out the MCC B-soccer Tournament with a 3-1 win over SLUH for their first championship in YEARS! Thanks to goals by Alec Roussin (unassisted free kick), Anthony "AC" Christante from a Dominic Barczewski assist and finally AC once again unassisted. Congratulations Jr. Griffins!

Attention, Scouts: The Eagle Group will meet on Friday in the Library. Also, Bro. Andy will start a groups for the Pope Pius XII Award. See him in the library for more details.

ALL LACROSSE PLAYERS: If you signed up to order team gloves or are still interested in ordering a pair, and did not attend Tuesday's follow up meeting please come by ROOM 108 at 2:45 on THURSDAY September 20th.
