All members of last year's chess team please see Mr. Petersen in room 208 sometime today.

 

Any faculty or students parked in the first three rows of the senior parking lot closest to Don Heeb field must move their vehicle immediately after school on Friday afternoon.  Vehicles not moved will be ticketed.  

 

The Scramblers will have meetings all week during Encore in Room 110 beginning Monday, September 16th through Friday, September 20th to plan for the Spirit Week Pep Rally.  Thank you!

 

Season athletic passes are on sale in the Griffin Gear Store for $25.00. 

 

Attention juniors and seniors:  Washington University is hosting Mini-Medical School, an evening program for students considering medicine as a profession.  The first session begins next week. See your counselor in the Leadership Center for more details.

 

Attention all members of the Spanish Honor Society--there is a mandatory meeting of the Society on Monday, September 23 during Encore in room 408. We will nominate for officers, discuss Hats On Day, which is next week, and talk about induction. See Mrs. Fullenkamp for information.

 

Attention seniors:  Is a parent, grandparent, or great grandparent a military veteran?  You may be eligible for a scholarship from the American Legion.  Check out the qualifications for the different American Legion scholarships on the scholarship list of the colleges tab of Family Connection.  See your counselor in the Leadership Center for more information.

 

Junior Retreats:  All Juniors are encouraged to check out the retreat lists that have been posted on the campus ministry bulletin board. If your name is not listed or you have a concern, please see Fr. Tim.

 

Tech Club meets today after school.  Leaders will be elected and activities set for the semester.  We’ll start around 2:45.

 

Cultural Leadership is a yearlong educational leadership program open to sophomores and juniors who are curious, courageous teens who have a passion for justice and equality, an interest in other cultures and leadership potential.  See your counselor in the Leadership Center for an application.

 

The Griffin Cross Country team finally toes the line again as they tame the Manmaker hill in the Hazelwood Central Invitational at Sioux Passage Park.  Celebrate a homecoming game victory over SLUH with a hearty trip north along the banks of the Missouri.  Varsity runs at 9:00 am with JV and freshman to follow.

The pay is rather generous with an $8/hr base pay + bonuses which usually average out to ~ $13/hr. Despite winning first place in 6 or 12 events the Swim Team lost to Kirkwood yesterday. The first place finishers for the Griffins includedFr. Jake Gauvain in the 200 Free, Sr. Garrett Lipic in the 50 Free, Jr. Sam Trenter in Diving and Sr. Nick Wojciechowski in the 100 Back. So. Nick Alexander was a double winner in the 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Free. Nick also qualified for the State meet in the 500 Free with a time of 4:51.67---beating his own school record set last year.  The team faces Affton next Wednesday.

If you want to find out what that means, you'll have to come to our next Robotics meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24th in room 204 to find out.  While you're there, we will introduce Mr. Tony Strawhun, an engineer with Afton Chemical who will serve as our professional FTC mentor.  We will also start working on Labview programming tutorials, and collaborate on the construction of the "block party" simulation field...be there!!
