All students are reminded that there are to be NO books brought into the cafeteria or placed in the foyer outside the Griffin Cafe. Students, especially those in 1st and 4th lunch shifts, need to take their books to their classroom or to their lockers. Leaving books on the floor of the foyer is a fire hazard and can no longer be allowed to happen. This has to stop immediately.

ALL: The Cafe will be closed today during Encore to all but LINK Crew participants.

Any student going to the soccer game on Friday, September 21 at 6:00 at the Soccer Park will receive a free ticket to our football game at home on the same night.

If you will 18 on or before Election Day, Nov. 6, and would like to vote in the election, see Mr. Matreci in the office to register by October 10. Also, seniors, if you are 18 and want to be considered for any federal financial aid for college, you must register with Selective Service. You can also do that with Mr. Matreci anytime.

The following college reps will be on campus this week. Sign up in the LLC or online by the end of the day BEFORE the visit.

Justice Immersion Retreat for Juniors and Seniors: Juniors and Seniors interested in going to Chicago Oct. 26-28 to participate in a a social justice retreat may apply through Fr. Tim. Time will be given for prayer and reflection while working directly with the poor. Pick up a flyer with information and consider applying during the month of September. This may count for your annual retreat at Vianney . Limited enrollment.

Seniors: The Horatio Alger Association provides financial assistance to students who have a financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarships range from $5000 to $20,000. More information can be found on the Guidance bulletin board, on Family Connection or see a counselor.

There will be a short Close Up meeting today during Encore in Room 204 for those who have shown interest in going to Washington, D.C. in February on the Close Up Program. If you did not make last week's meeting but would still like to get moe information on this interactive program with students from around the country, then join us on Friday in Room 204.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Check out the guidance bulletin board for 2 exciting evening programs coming up very soon. Learn about the Colleges That Change Lives on Monday, September 24 at Lindbergh High and/or attend an information session on Monday, October 15 with representatives from Dartmouth, Northwestern, Princeton, Cal-Berkeley and Vanderbilt. There will be a meeting for all new and former members of the Science Honor Society today, September 21, in room 105 during encore.

Mr. Cochran will be selling student athletic event passes at all lunches. Each pass is $25.00. Students will need to bring their "Student ID"; the passes will go on the back of the ID. Seniors, use last year's ID if you did not receive one with your senior pictures.

Attention, Scouts: The Eagle Group will meet today in the Library. Also, Bro. Andy will start a groups for the Pope Pius XII Award. See him in the library for more details.

The Mu Alpha Theta induction ceremony will be held under the pavilion (next to the football field) during encore on Monday, September 24th. All officers and new members must be in attendance. The ceremony will begin at 9:15, so please be prompt.
RACQUETBALL --- If you missed the informational meeting on Wednesday you can still sign up. Come by 310 During Encore TODAY or FRIDAY to pick up the information packet. ALL FORMS ARE DUE MONDAY SEPT 24th!!!


There will be a meeting of all new and returning members of the Science Honor Society today in room 105 during encore. New members' names are posted on the list outside Room 105.

JUNIORS ONLY: Each year the Archdiocese of St. Louis invites Juniors to enter the Annual Catholic Appeal Scholarship Essay Contest. There are 3 guaranteed winners at St. John Vianney High School. 1st place is a $750 scholarship. Submissions are due to Mrs. Mitchell NO LATER THAN TUESDAY OCT. 2. Students NOT in Mrs. Mitchell's classes this semester, may see her in 104 for a list of the objectives & criteria.

Pro Life Club Meeting on Monday: The Pro Life Club will meet this coming Monday at Encore. Anyone participating in the 40 Days for Life program next Thursday is also asked to come to the meeting to see the schedule for Sept 27 and go over what we will be doing. Will YOU be one of those 40 members of the Vianney family who will stand up for life on Sept. 27th. Since there will be no classes next Friday Sept 28, we encourage students to consider giving some of your time on Thursday. Pick up a form on the campus ministry bulletin board today.

ALL LACROSSE PLAYERS: If you want team gloves and did not attend yesterday's meeting, you need to see Coach Stein TODAY at Encore in ROOM 108 or after school in ROOM 102.
