Vianney Daily Bulletin

Friday, September 22

There will be a meeting for all sophomore, juniors and seniors who are interested in trying out for baseball on Monday during Encore.

The varsity soccer team defeated St. Mary’s 4-0 last night in the CYC Tournament.  The shutout was recorded by Noah Hartenstein and goals were scored by Kamou Harris, Jacob Sansone, John Allen, & Cam Skaggs. The win was good enough to earn the Griffins a #3 seed in the CYC Tournament. They will play the #2 seed Ladue tonight at Soccer Park at 6:00.  Start your Homecoming Friday early by supporting the soccer team in the CYC Final 4!!

Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Well, at Vianney, for our LIFE program, it’s all about what we KNOW we’re going to get...God’s greatness everyday! Come join us for our first meeting of the semester next week, September 28th, from 6pm to 8pm, up at the Art Gallery. If you’re planning on coming, drop by and see Mr. Kheriaty to let him know what kind of pizza you want!

The Griffin Gold soccer team continued their winning streak last night, winning their 4th game in a row, in a dominating fashion. Set plays and corner kicks were the name of the game in their 5-0 victory over Seckman. Mike Menendez added 2 more goals last night, while Jack Silies, Andrew Insco and Luca Sulz added one. Fernando Baez decided that since he missed recognition for his first shutout of the season yesterday, he’d come back with his second shutout last night, coming up with some big saves just to be sure. Griffin gold plays again tonight against SLUH, so come out and cheer on your Griffins tonight at the NAC. Way to go Griffins!

The football program would like to honor this week’s Teachers of the week. The 1st first recipient is Mrs. Steeg. Mrs. Steeg was nominated by Jordan Guilfoy, Hunter Barcom and Colton Dallas. They had this to say about Mrs. Steeg: Mrs. Steeg is an amazing role model who always has a smile on her face and is willing to help all students. I know that if I go to Mrs. Steeg for help she will do whatever it takes to help me. We are really lucky to have her in our faculty.  Our second recipient is Mr. Matreci. Mr. Matreci was nominated by Zach Zerwig, Devin Devres and Thomas Willett. They had this to say about Mr. Matreci: Mr. Matreci is a man for others and is always willing to help every student. Mr. Matreci is very passionate about teaching History and about Vianney in general. Mr. Matreci is well respected and does a great job of not only teaching history but also teaching life skills in general. Thank you to Mrs. Steeg and Mr. Matreci for all you do for all our students.

All returning players and anyone interested in playing Racquetball this year, there will be a meeting next Thursday during Encore in room 106. If you cannot attend the meeting, see Mr Buehrle sometime next week.

A big shoutout to the Student Foundation members who participated in phone-a-thons on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, Kai Panethiere jumped to the top of the list by raising an astounding $2,000. First timer, Logan Schafer, made a tremendous $1,050. On Wednesday, John Benedick climbed to the top by raising $690 while Logan Schafer once again made an impact by raising $450. In all, the Student Foundation raised about $6,000 in 2 days! Nice work, gentlemen!
