All students are reminded that there are to be NO books brought into the cafeteria or placed in the foyer outside the Griffin Cafe. Students, especially those in 1st and 4th lunch shifts, need to take their books to their classroom or to their lockers. Leaving books on the floor of the foyer is a fire hazard and can no longer be allowed to happen. This has to stop immediately.
Any Ambassador that is on the list on the Main Office window that did not pick up a sheet from Coach Brown on Friday should pick it up from Mrs. Baker in the Main Office during Encore today. This is very important so please check the list.

The Mu Alpha Theta induction ceremony will be held under the pavilion (next to the football field) during encore today. All officers and new members must be in attendance. The ceremony will begin at 9:15, so please be prompt.

JUNIORS ONLY: Each year the Archdiocese of St. Louis invites Juniors to enter the Annual Catholic Appeal Scholarship Essay Contest. There are 3 guaranteed winners at St. John Vianney High School. 1st place is a $750 scholarship. Submissions are due to Mrs. Mitchell NO LATER THAN TUESDAY OCT. 2. Students NOT in Mrs. Mitchell's classes this semester, may see her in 104 for a list of the objectives & criteria.
Pro Life Club Meeting Today: The Pro Life Club will meet today at Encore. Anyone participating in the 40 Days for Life program on Thursday is also asked to come to the meeting to see the schedule for Sept 27 and go over what we will be doing. Will YOU be one of those 40 members of the Vianney family who will stand up for life on Sept. 27th. Since there will be no classes next Friday Sept 28, we encourage students to consider giving some of your time on Thursday. Pick up a form on the campus ministry bulletin board today.

ALL LACROSSE PLAYERS: If you would like to order team gloves and did not attend last week's meetings, you need to see Coach Stein TODAY at Encore in ROOM 304 or after school in ROOM 108.
The Pro Life club will meet this morning in chapel. Any student who has turned in his permission form to participate in the 40 Day for Life program this Thursday is also invited. All who are participating may receive free cookies and juice which will be offered at the end of the meeting.
Students who are upperclassmen may register for the Weekend service retreat at the end of October by completing the form. Please return to Fr. Tim by Sept. 28.
The Griffin Swimmers and Divers scored an impressive 4th place finish at the DeSmet Invitational this past Saturday at the St. Peters Rec Plex. This meet included 4 of last seasons Top 9 teams in the state including SLUH, Rock Bridge, Park Hills South and defending State Champs, Rockhurst. The Griffs were very consistent all day--continuing to place individuals and teams in the 4th-7th scoring positions and racking up points. In the end, the Griffins only scored two Top 3 finishes, but the team finished fourth--only 48 points behind MCC rival SLUH for 3rd place. A number of guys made big contibutions including Sam Reynolds, Kevin Ogle, Brendan Keller, Austin Hanse, Garrett Lipic, Ben Dombrowski, and Nick Alexander. Nick again broke his school record in the 100 Back placing first in the event and he also finished second in the 200 IM. The Swimmers & Divers are back in action tomorrow at 4pm vs. Westminster at Westminster.
The field was huge, talented, and deep in Saturday's 50th annual Hancock Cross Country Invitational. The Griffs toed the line with thousands of runners from all over Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee. Eddie Albarran was the only medalist on the day with his 20th place finish in the varsity race. Drake Cantu had his best race of the season finishing first for the JV squad. Next up is today versus Kirkwood & Parkway West at Kirkwood Park. All cross country athletes are asked to meet in room 304 at the very beginning of Encore for a brief but important meeting.

Join the Spanish Honor Society in its tenth annual collection to benefit the great Kirkwood organization, Friends of Kids with Cancer. This year there will be prizes awarded for the best hats. Wear a Hat--help the kids!
