Calling all men of good will. Vianney's Pro-Life Club is a group of courageous young men committed to ending abortion and building a culture of life. We use prayer, education and action. The Pro-Life Club will meet next Wednesday before school, at 8:15 am in Mr. Kheriaty's classroom. Consider coming.

 

There will be a meeting for all members of the National Honor Society on Thursday, October 3, during encore, to finalize plans for the Academic Decathlon.  

 

Griffin Theatre will hold auditions for the first production of this season, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, October 1st and on Thursday, October 3rd. There are 17 male roles available. More information is available on the Vianney website or see Mr. Book in room 503.

Each year, the Annual Catholic Appeal (“ACA”) brings Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis together to answer the Gospel call of Christ to serve others.   Archbishop Robert J. Carlson and the ACA Council invite all JUNIORS who attend a Catholic High School to participate in the 2013-2014 ACA Essay Scholarship Contest. Essays are due to Mrs. Mitchell no later than Friday Oct. 4.  For questions and essay guidelines, see Mrs. Mitchell in 104  or her Vianney  webpage.

This week we begin our second round of Class Meetings during Encore.  Schedule goes as follows: Thursday -Juniors. Freshman, your Class Meeting will be on Tuesday of next week during Encore.  Students in Mandatory Encore must attend Mandatory Encore.

There will be a mandatory meeting tonight for everyone that is interested in trying out for baseball this spring for Vianney.  The meeting will start at 5:30 pm in the Griffin Cafe and the player and at least one parent must be in attendance. The meeting will last one hour.  If you are unable to make it you must contact Coach Scott Brown for a makeup time.  If you are on the freshman football team your meeting will be held following your game on Thursday.

CLOSE UP MEETING FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN GOING TO WASHINGTON DC IN FEBRUARY WILL BE HELD IN ROOM 102 NEXT THURSDAY DURING ENCORE. THERE IS STILL TIME FOR NEWCOMERS TO JOIN THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SHOWN INTEREST.

 

Due to the Academic Speaker Series on Friday, Tech Club will not be meeting this week.  Next week is our "tear down" lab.  Reserve your spot with Mr. McAllister and bring a set of screwdrivers.

 

Attention seniors:  This Friday is the last day to register for the October 26 ACT without paying a late fee.  Link  to the ACT site from your Family Connection account.  Remember, a higher score could mean more $$$$$.

On Saturday the cross country team has an early wakeup call as they will be competing in the historic Hancock Invitational at Jefferson Barracks Park.  JV runs at 8:00 am and varsity at 9:00 am.  Why not celebrate a big victory over CBC with a leisurely stroll through the park?

 

The Griffin Swimmers demonstrated a great team effort in a victory over Affton--winning all 11 events.  Several of the highlights included double winners Nick Wojciechowski (200 IM and 100 Back) and Jake Gauvain (50 Free and 100 Fly). Other individual winners included Ben Dombrowski (200 Free), Nick Minton (100 Free), Garrett Lipic (500 Free) and Nick Alexander in the 100 Breaststroke. Nick qualified for State and shattered the 9 year old school record. He is now ranked #2 in the state in the 100 Breaststroke and #1 in the 100 Backstroke.

 

Seniors:  On Saturday, October 5, the senior parents are sponsoring Mouse Races to help fund your graduation all-night party.  We are looking for volunteers to help that night (6:30 to about 11:00) by selling raffle tickets, etc.  If you would like to volunteer, see Mr. Matreci.
