Mr. Travis' D period Modern European class will eat in the 2nd shift today instead of the first. The class should meet in the media center.

Juniors and Seniors: Registration for Junior and Senior retreat opportunities are now open for registration on the Vianney website. There are multiple retreat opportunities available to you, including Kairos for seniors and the traditional Junior retreat. Cardboard Village in November, the March for Life in Washington D.C at the end of January, the Lenten Retreat in March, and the Service Immersion trip to Chicago next month can all be used as your required retreat for the year. Registration and more information on these retreat opportunities is also available on the website. Registration for all Junior and Seniors needs to be completed by Friday, October 12th. The links for registration can be found on the Retreat Program page under the Faith Formation section of Vianney's website. If you have any questions please visit Mr. Remiger in the Campus Ministry office.

All students are reminded that there are to be NO books brought into the cafeteria or placed in the foyer outside the Griffin Cafe. Students, especially those in 1st and 4th lunch shifts, need to take their books to their classroom or to their lockers. Leaving books on the floor of the foyer is a fire hazard and can no longer be allowed to happen. This has to stop immediately.

 

JUNIORS ONLY: Each year the Archdiocese of St. Louis invites Juniors to enter the Annual Catholic Appeal Scholarship Essay Contest. There are 3 guaranteed winners at St. John Vianney High School. 1st place is a $750 scholarship. Submissions are due to Mrs. Mitchell NO LATER THAN TUESDAY OCT. 2. Students NOT in Mrs. Mitchell's classes this semester, may see her in 104 for a list of the objectives & criteria.

 

 

Close Up Program: If you are intending on going on the Close Up Trip to Washington, D.C. in February, you must come to a meeting today in Room 204 during Encore. If there is no chance that you can attend, then you must see Mr. Travis sometime during the day on Thursday.

Chicago Immersion Retreat: If you are a Junior or a Senior and interested in going on the weekend retreat of Oct. 26-28, you are reminded to turn in your application by the end of this week. All Juniors and Seniors are required to attend a retreat this year. Your options are on the Vianney web site under Faith Formation. For more information please see Mr. Remiger, Fr. Tim, or Mr. Dailey.

There will be a meeting for all members of the National Honor Society on Tuesday in room 105 during encore. This is required, as we will be assigning duties for the Academic Decathlon.

Members of the Science Honor Society should come to room 105 during encore today to vote for officers for 2012 - 2013.

The Ping Pong Club will not meet this week since there is no school Friday. We will be back in action next week. If you haven't yet been, come check out the most electrifying new club on campus: we meet in the 200 hallway on Tuesdays and Fridays, eat pizza and play Ping Pong.

Plato's Closet is offering a $500.00 scholarship to the student ho has helped to "reduce, reuse or recycle". Tell your story in a one page summary. Find out more details on the Guidance bulletin board, in the Updates section of Naviance Family Connection or see a counselor.

The 2013 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest is open to students in grades 9-12. A 1000 word or less essay is required demonstrating an understanding of political courage as described by President Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. More information is available on the Guidance bulletin board or in the Update section of Naviance Family Connection.

All Lacrosse players interested in getting team gloves that have not yet placed their order and/or turned their check need to see Coach Stein TODAY. He can be found in Rm. 108 during B period, Rm. 304 during C period and Rm. 102 during A period.

Well the B-soccer team's unbeaten streak is over, the visiting Flyers from Chaminade held them scoreless and beat us 1-nil yesterday. It was the first shutout of the season against the Jr. Griffins who had been averaging 4 goals per game. Up next is the Summit JV Tournament Monday.

Bowlers: the first match is Sunday, Sept. 30, at 11:00 at Olivette Lanes. Please be there at 10:45 AM. Maps are on the Bowling pages of the Vianney website.
