The Griffin Roar

Friday, September 30

First and foremost: Happy 50th birthday to John Mohr!!!!!

Juniors: The Archdiocese of St. Louis is sponsoring an essay contest for ALL juniors in a Catholic High School on the topic of the Annual Catholic Appeal.  See Mrs. Mitchell is 104 for more details.  All essays are due by October 10.

Seniors, be sure and let you Griffin Game Governor know if you are interested in Bowling or mini-golf on Monday at 12:30 pm.  Today at Encore would be a great time to let them know.  Governors, we need a team picture sent to me at the conclusion of Encore.

Any junior interested in completing the Social Service Project (SSP) in the spring at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, St. Clare Hospital, St Mary’s Medical Center or the VA at Jefferson Barracks needs to speak with Mrs. Mitchell in room 104 in the next week.  Spaces are limited.

ALL FRESHMAN are to report to the field house today during encore to meet with Mr. Lewis. This important meeting will only take half of your encore time. See Mr. Lewis with any questions.

Any student that has suffered a concussion over the past 2 years, please stop by and let me know sometime today or email me.  Give me the time that it took place.

No time to BBQ this weekend… worries.  The BBQ Club is traveling to Smoking Barrels in South City on Monday at noon to dine on some BBQ.  All are welcome.  Anyone interested in attending must sign up in the Advancement Office.  For details see Mr. Cerone.

Today during Encore we will be doing the Griffin Games Octathlon.  All students are welcome to watch, we simply ask that you stay in the bleachers or pavillon.  Stay off the field and track.  A couple points of clarification for participants and judges.  In the 2-man golf scramble, you are not allowed to hit a moving ball and caddies are required to pull the cart, you are not allowed to carry the golf bag.  In the 3-man/4-legged race you are not allowed to carry any of the participants.  Everyone must have their feet on the ground.  Finally in the Gummy Bear Challenge, we will do that once the majority of the other events are completed.  The point breakdown is 5 points for a Gold Gummy Bear, 10 points for a Red Gummy Bear, 50 Points for the 1st Green Gummy Bear, but negative 50 points for finding the second Green Gummy Bear.  No points for any other color Gummy Bear that ends up on your plate and they must be placed one at a time.
