Good morning GRIFFINS this is your VIANNEY DAILY!

 

The swimmers were overmatched by a strong SLUH team 120-60.  The 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays of Jake Gauvain, Nick Alexander, Mitch Gerth and Ben Greene were both winners while Jake Gauvain took 2nd in the 100 Fly and Austin Poulsen took 2nd in the 500 Free. Nick Alexander was the Griffs only individual winner, taking 1st place honors in both the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Fly.  The swims against 10 other top area teams this Saturday at the Lindbergh Splashing Out Cancer Invitational at 1:00pm."

 

Tomorrow representatives from Rockhurst University, Avila University and St. Ambrose University will be here to meet with students. If you are interested in meeting with any of these reps, please sign up through Naviance.

 

The location for the National College Fair this Sunday at SLU has been changed from the Simon Rec Center to the Chaifitz Center on the SLU campus.  The fair runs from 1-4 pm and is a great way to talk with several college reps all in one location.

 

There will be no freshmen basketball workout after school today.

 

The Freshman Black Soccer team defeated Desmet yesterday by the score of 3-1 to advance to the Championship game in the CBC tournament. They'll play Chaminade on Saturday morning at 9. The goals were scored by Tommy Geders (2) and Marty Thomas

There will be a sign up meeting for all sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in trying out for basketball on Tuesday October 20 during Encore in room PE5.  Questions see Coach Kevin Walsh in room PE5.

Basketball tryouts start Monday November 2.

 

All Griffin Guides need to meet in the Fieldhouse on Wednesday October 14th promptly at 8:15 a.m.

 

Zach Layton medaled and ran a season best to lead the Varsity cross country team Saturday at the MCC Championships in Forest Park.  Hans Mohr medaled with a PR to lead the JV and Luke Miller medaled and PRed, leading the Freshman.  Big thanks goes to tough man Paul Nicholson who ran injured so the frosh could outscore CCP. Congrats to many more who ran season best times.

 

  1. STUCO: Student Council is still selling all remaining Homecoming shirts at the concession stand after school. $5 to grab a piece of HS history!

    2. The Vianney Investment Club is Holding an update meeting on Thursday After School. All Members are required to attend! Bring your portfolio and be prepared to present your data!

    3. The Vianney History Club is meeting Tuesday After school for a Brief Meeting. We will discuss upcoming events for the semester. Come Prepared!

 

CHESS INTRAMURALS CONTINUE THIS WEEK.  PRACTICES ARE SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY AFTER SCHOOL, AND ROUND 6 COMPETITION IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY AFTER SCHOOL.  NEW PLAYERS ARE WELCOME.  ROUND 5 WINNERS WERE MARSHALL HARNEY, NATHAN MITTENZWEY, JACOB FARRELL, GAVIN HENSEL, AARON MANLEY AND JOSHUA RUSSELL.

 

The Griffins Swimmers turned in a solid team performance over the 2-Day Rockwood Summit Invitational.  Medalists included all 3 relays:  The 200 Medley and the 400 Free Relays of Nick Alexander, Jake Gauvain, Chris Raeber and Ben Greene took 4th Place and 3rd place respectively.  The 200 Free Relay of Paul Hoffman, Chris Raeber, Drew Sandweg and Mitch Gerth finished 6th.  Sam Biffignani placed 7th in the 100 Backstroke while Jake Gauvain took 6th in the 500 Free and 7th in the 50 Free. Nick Alexander finished first in both the 200 IM and the 500 Free, breaking his own school record in the 500.  The team finished in 5th place overall.  Swimmers will practice today at Affton at 3:15--that is a time change from the schedule."

 

Today October 12th representative from Loyola University New Orleans and University of Missouri Kansas City will be here to meet with prospective students. If you are interested in meeting with either of these reps, please sign up using Naviance.

 

Attention juniors and seniors--like working with numbers?  interested in the career field of Actuarial Science?  want to experience what an actuary does as a job?  RGA, a local actuarial firm will have an information day on Friday, November 6 from 9:30 to 1 pm.  Please see Mrs. Sodemann in the Leadership Center by October 15 if you are interested in participating in this event.

 

Attention Avionics club members:  This season marks the Eighth Annual Boeing Engineering Challenge sponsored by The Boeing Company – St. Louis Site!  The event kicks off at our Open House - Wednesday, October 14, from 6:00-7:00 pm with our Request for Proposal Kick-off and Systems Requirements.
