Due to testing on Wednesday, the Sign Language class will NOT meet this week.


Seniors: Vianney's most prestigious service award, the Archbishop May Service Award, is given to one graduating senior every year. The winner has his name etched on a permanent plaque in the main hallway and leads a prayer at graduation. If you have been a good servant-leader and have excelled in service at Vianney, please nominate yourself for this award. Applications can be obtained from Mr. Wheadon or Mr. Remiger and must be returned to them with an accompanying essay by Thursday.
Close Up Program: This is the last call for any students who might want to jloin us on the Close Up Trip to Washington, D.C. in February. Our group will be joined by 17 girls from Cor Jesu in this highly interactive program with students from all parts of the country, one week after the presidential inauguration ceremonies. See Mr. Travis in Room 204 for details.

The Elks National Foundation awards scholarships through its Most Valuable Student scholarship contest. You must be a US citizen and demonstrate financial need. More details are available on Naviance Family Connection or see a counselor.

ALL: This week is Vianney Spirit Week in preparation for Homecoming Saturday October 20th. Here is the list of Dress up days sponsored by STUCO.
Tuesday - Greek Life Tuesday - Sperry's (no socks of course) button downs, thigh showing flat fronts, visors, croakies, and sunglasses encouraged.
Unacceptable - Wearing of Just gym shorts and t-shirts - You Have to TRY!
Food: Taco Tuesday - Selling Jack in the Box Tacos at Lunch

Wednesday - Testing Day - Regular attire Required
Food: Dominos Pizza sold After school by STUCO

Thursday - Ron Burgundy Day - Dress up like your Favorite 1960's - 70's local News Anchor - If I may Quote the Great Movie Anchorman, Ron Burgundy "Had suits so fine it made Frank Sinatra Look like a Hobo!" Dress up in FINE suits in retro colors. (This is a Mass Day so dress up but it retro colors)
Food: Syberg's Tenders

Friday: Black and Gold Day! Modified attire by class - dress wacky but use the following colors!
Seniors: Wear Black
Juniors: Wear Gold
Sophomores: Wear White
Freshman: wear Grey
Food: McDonald's McDoubles at Lunch!

Attention Juniors and Seniors--St. Louis Community College at Meramec is hosting a college fair on Monday, October 22 from 6-7:30 in the Meramec gymnasium. Over 100 college representatives will be present. Students and parents are welcome to attend.

Juniors and Seniors--Don't forget the National College Fair at Saint Louis University this Sunday, October 21. The fair is at the Simon Recreation Center from 12-3. Details of how to preregister are on Vianney's website and on Family Connection or see a counselor for more information.

The Eagle Scout Group will meet in the media center during Encore on Friday, October 19. See Bro. Andy for more info.

 

CHESS INTRAMURALS CONTINUE THIS WEEK WITH ROUND 7 COMPETITION SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY IN ROOM 209. ROUND 6 WINNERS WERE TIM ELLEBRACHT, NIKITA THOMPSON, ALEX MOELLERING, AARON REYNOLDS, ALEX GRIFFIN, DAN OWENSBY, ERIC HOFFMAN, ALEX FOLEY AND JESSE GLASS.
CHESS TEAM TRYOUTS BEGIN MONDAY, OCTOBER 29 FOR ROOKIES AND TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 FOR VETERANS. REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM MR. PETERSEN DURING SCHOOL AND MR. BAUR AFTER SCHOOL.

ALL: There will be no Griffin LIFE meeting this week.

The Griffin Junior varsity football team extending its winning streak to 3 games by defeating Farmington yesterday, 22-8. Leading the way on offense was Corey Watson, who scored all 3 touchdowns behind Nick Hebestreit's lead blocking and a dominant effort by the Griffin offensive line. Defensively, great performances were logged by Austin LaBarge, Michael Lynch, Cody Sturgill (2 tackles for a loss), Pat McVey (one sack), and Ryan Cariolano (2 sacks and multiple tackles for losses.) Come out and support the Griffin Junior Varsity football program in their final game of the season on Monday, October 22 at 4:30 pm against Fort Zumwalt South here at Vianney.

All lacrosse players trying out for VARSITY this spring: If you did not come to the service project meeting yesterday, please see Coach Stein TODAY. Those who were at the meeting yesterday are reminded to meet in ROOM 204 on THURSDAY October 18th immediately after school.

Sophomore & Varsity Basketball Tryouts: There will be a sign up and informational meeting for any sophomore, junior or senior interested in trying out for the sophomore and varsity basketball teams this THURSDAY MORNING AT 7:20 IN THE FIELD HOUSE. If you plan on trying out for either of those teams, please make plans to attend this meeting.
