The varsity football team hosts the first round of district play tonight with a game against Poplar Bluff at 6:00. Student passes cannot be honored for this game. Admission is set at $5.

This week will mark the next round of Monthly Class Meetings. Please remember that if you are in Mandatory Encore you need to report to that room, everyone else is to report to the Fieldhouse for their meeting. Schedule goes as follows: Thursday: Juniors will NOT meet -- rescheduled to next week; Friday: Freshmen.

Mass with the Archbishop next Thursday: Anyone interested in working on the next student body mass with the Archbishop should see Fr. Tim or Mr. Remiger We have invited Archbishop Carlson to join us for our All Saints Mass.

Mission Immersion Trip: Come and learn about how you might be able to travel to Jamaica to do some mission work at the beginning of next summer (2013) and learn about another culture and part of the world. There will be an information meeting on Friday during Encore (Oct. 26). The Vianney Group had a lot of fun the last time we went and we plan on doing it again! -- Fr. Tim

Pro Life March and Trip to Washington, D.C.: Start thinking about applying to go on the trip to Washington, D.C. An information meeting will be coming up soon. Listen for the invitation!

STUCO: Missed Homecoming? T-shirts and sunglasses given out at Homecoming are for sale in the Griffin Gear Store. T-shirts go for $10 and sunglasses are being sold for $1. This sale is for this week only.

There will be a meeting of the Science Honor Society on Tuesday, October 30, in room 105 at encore.

Anyone interested in a Vianney Ping Pong Club t-shirt, see Mr. Kheriaty. Shirts are $10 and we need money by Friday.

Attention all bocce players: We play this Thursday from 3:30 - 5:00pm. Bocce fees are due this week. The fee is $20. If you need a ride or the fee is a hardship for you, check with Mr. Kheriaty; we can work something out.

The Robotics club finally has its robot! Members of the robotics club should meet in room 207 (Mr. Scanlon's room) immediately after school this coming Monday, Oct. 29th to start the assembly process. We have a tournament in January, so we've got our work cut out for us...hope to see you there!

Any student trying out for the sophomore basketball team will report to the track on Monday at 5:15 for pre-practice conditioning. Please bring appropriate dress and shoes for work on the track.

Juniors who are interested in being student leaders for 2013-2014 Kairos retreats need to pick up Student Leader applications from Mr. Remiger in the Campus Ministry office, all applications need to be turned in by November 9th.

Juniors and seniors: if you are taking the ACT in December and would like help studying for it, the next ACT prep course at Vianney starts in one week from tonight. Average score improvement is 3 points. If you want to sign up, see Mr. Meyer in the counseling office. If you know you want to take a later course, you also can reserve your spot for any future course offered this school year.

Despite having to wait a week to complete a meet which had been postponed, the Griffins swimmers maintained their intensity and took a big meet from perennial swimming power, MICDS, by a score of 87-84. The meet was delayed due to weather problems last Wednesday and then rescheduled after four events, with the score, Griffins 33 MICDS 29 at the time. First-place finishers for the Griffs included Nick Alexander in the 200 IM and the 100 Back, Sam Reynolds in the 10 Free and Kevin Ogle in the 100 Breast. The 8-3 swimmers and divers complete their regular-season schedule on Friday against Chaminade at 4pm at Chaminade.

Jimmy Broyles' 3rd place finish and Kevin Tiemann's 9th place helped earn the Griffin cross country team a 2nd place trophy in the Webster Invitational yesterday. In all eight Griffins earned in a medal. Joey Nelson ended his season in fine fashion by placing 8th in the freshman division. Jack Eisenbarger, and Jarred Frank also medaled for the 4th place squad. That was the final team meet of the season. Eddie Albarran looks to earn his way to the state meet Saturday at Sectionals at 10:30 at Parkway Central high school.

All freshman football players are reminded that equipment hand-in is this Friday (tomorrow) October 26th immediately after school in the varsity locker room. Be prepared to hand in all pads and CLEAN clothes (pants, jerseys, etc.)
