The Griffin Swimmers lost to Chaminade Friday in a meet which was much more exciting than the 109-71 score might imply.  Most of the 11 event featured multiple close races and the Griffs took first in 5 of the 11.  Jake Gauvain was a double-winner in the 200 IM and the 100 Free.  Nick Alexander was also a double-winner in the 50 Free and the 100 Back.  Nick broke his school record in the 50 Free while setting 2 new Chaminade Pool records, bringing his total of pool record at Chaminade to 5 of the 8 events.  The meet started big for the Griffins when the 200 Medley Relay of Alexander, Gauvain, Chris Raeber and Ben Greene qualified for the State Meet--held at the St. Peters Rec Plex in 2 weeks.  Currently, the team has qualified 2 of its 3 relays as well as Nick Alexander and Jake Gauvain in individual events.  Next up, the team swims in the MCC Swimming Championships next Wednesday and Friday at Forest Park Community College Pool."
