"Six Griffins competed very well for Vianney at the State Meet this past weekend at the St. Peters Rec Plex.  The 200 Medley Relay of Nick Alexander, Chris Raeber, Jake Gauvain and Ben Greene posted a season-best 1:43.87 finishing 23rd after being seeded #37.  The 400 Free Relay of Alexander, Gauvain, Raeber, and Sam Biffignani also posted a season-best time of 3:28.01 and moved up 4 spots to 31st.  Unfortunately, the 200 Free Relay of Greene, Gauvain, Biffignani and Mitch Gerth were disqualified due to an overly aggressive relay exchange.

Junior Jake Gauvain posted his second-best time ever--5:09.12--in the 500 Free while swimming his first individual event at the State Meet.  But, the Meet belonged to Nick Alexander for the second year in a row.  Nick sent an early message that he was there to leave his mark and did he ever!  During the prelims on Friday afternoon, Nick broke both existing state records in the 200IM and the 100 Backstroke.  With the crowd anticipating some serious excitement, Nick broke BOTH records again while capturing both titles for the second time.  He was also named Missouri Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive year.  Congratulations to Nick and all the Griffin Swimmers on an excellent season."
