Griffins top Kickapoo in semifinals

The Vianney Golden Griffins soccer squad defeated Springfield Kickapoo 3-1 in the Class 4 semifinals on Friday night to earn a spot in the championship game for the first time since 2010.

The Griffins (23-7-2) will meet Rockhurst (26-3), which advanced with a 2-1 win over CBC in the other semifinal, in the Class 4 championship game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Soccer Park. Vianney's last state title came back in 1992.
