You can play chess today in room 209 at encore.  Chess team tryouts continue this week. Registration is required.  See Mr. Matreci in the leadership center or Mr. Baur in room 209 for details.

Attention juniors:  The ACT Prep Course D, which is the one that goes from 3:15-5:45 beginning on January 3, is now full.  If you’d like to be on the waitlist, please email Mrs. Kheriaty. There is still room in the ACT Prep Course E, which is the one that goes from 6-8:30pm beginning on January 3.  Both of these courses will help you prepare for your February ACT that all Vianney juniors will take.

This Friday (the 16th) is a Dress-Down Day for the National Honor Society Canned-Food Drive.  On Friday, please bring in 5 non-perishable food items from the following list of food items in order to participate: Canned soups, canned meats, canned spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables, boxed dinners, such as mac & cheese and hamburger helper, and other boxed items, such as cake mix and corn bread mix.  NHS members will be collecting in the Commons starting at 7am.

Griffin Theatre’s production of 1776 opens this Thursday and runs thru Sunday. 1776 is based on the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It dramatizes the efforts of John Adams to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence. John Adams and the other founding fathers are not treated as gods or cardboard characters, but rather as real men struggling with starting a new nation against great odds.

The cast features Misters Prost, Jones, Buehrle,Trowbridge, Mohr, Matreci and Remiger. Make plans now to attend 1776.

Jazz band will meet at encore this morning.

The varsity football team will be competing in the state quarterfinals against Jackson on Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 at The Heeb. Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday, November 14 at 8:00 a.m. and conclude on Friday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m. The price is $7.00. You can purchase them from Mrs. Hackett in the Commons.

During Encore today, Campus Ministry will offer a mass in the chapel.  Today’s celebrant is Fr. Chris Dunlap, Pastor at Christ Prince of Peace.  All are welcome!

Tomorrow morning at 8:30 am 4 of our young men will be signing their NLI to continue their athletic and academics next year in college.  Soccer’s Brendan Dolan will be signing with Rockhurst while Baseball’s Ryan Insco will be signing with UT-Martin, Nico Hagen with Central Missouri State University and Will Pyatt with Illinois College.  Come down to the Leadership Center to show your support of these 4 young men.

Bocce players---this a reminder that this Thursday is the Bocce Pizza Party.  All players should go to the Bocce courts right after school….there are no session times for this.
