Griffin Esports is organized into 2 divisions: Competitive and Community.

Competitive Gaming: is structured and treated like any other competitive sport or club at Vianney High School. Students practice and compete week-by-week in State and Nationally-sponsored PC gaming leagues (MOSEFPlayVS and HSEL). Griffin Esports selects our competitive game offering based on student demand. Currently our Competitive Program engages in: Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros: Ultimate, Valorant and Rainbow Six: Siege.

Our competitive team is outfitted with Lenovo Legion Gaming PCs, custom GT Omega Gaming Chairs, Eureka Ergonomic Desks, and individual ZeroGen jerseys.

Griffin Esports is a free program to join.

However, on our competitive PC program, all students are required to own a digital copy of the game they wish to compete on. For example, if a student already owns the game on Xbox or Playstation, they would still need to purchase a digital copy (from STEAM) in order to play it in our PC Lab. Each game title is a one-time fee, and the game will stay with their accounts forever. The games we play range in price from $10-60.

Eligibility: All students must read and sign the 2020-2021 Griffin Esports Handbook. Contact either of the coaches for a copy of the handbook. Note: Any students interested in playing Rainbow Six: Siege competitively will need an additional parental permission form to be signed and filed with the coaches and Vianney administration prior to starting any practice or competition.

Competitive Gaming Minimum GPA: 2.5

Seasons: Esports competes in Overwatch, Super Smash Bros: Ultimate and Rainbow Six: Siege in the fall. Our competitive PC program competes in the HSEL Fall and Spring Majors. The HSEL has an individual player registration fee of $40. The fee will cover a player through a full semester of competitive play.

Community Gaming: meets once a month on Fridays to host student-led gaming tournaments. From NBA 2k, FIFA, NHL, Mario Kart, and beyond - the options are limitless, as is the desire to be the best Griffin Gamer. All games, consoles, and controllers are supplied by Vianney Esports - students are still encouraged to bring their own.
