Any size charitable bequest can be made to St. John Vianney High School through a will or living trust by including a distribution of cash or property, a dollar amount, or percentage of the estate. These gifts can be amended during your life, offering both flexibility and security.

BEQUEST LANGUAGE

Retirement plan assets in an IRA, Keogh, 401k, 403b, pension, or profit sharing plan can be the most highly taxed assets in an estate. Naming St. John Vianney High School as a contingent, primary, or partial beneficiary could be the most cost-effective gift.

Turning 71 this year? You may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) without incurring any income tax on withdrawal from your IRA.

Appreciated stock or mutual funds that you have owned for at least one year can be donated to Vianney directly. You receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock if you itemize and avoid paying capital gains tax.

Outright Gift: When you donate appreciated securities to Vianney, you receive the same income tax savings that you would if you wrote us a check, but with the added benefit of eliminating capital gains taxes on the transfer, which can be as high as 20%.

Transfer On Death (TOD): Placing a TOD designation on your brokerage or investment account will allow the account to be paid over to one or more persons/charities after your lifetime.

Life insurance is a powerful and flexible financial and estate planning tool. When the original purpose for a policy no longer applies, your policy can become a lasting way to support our mission. There are 3 simple ways to give:

1. Designating Vianney as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is a simple way to support the school.
2. Buying a new policy with Vianney as owner and beneficiary can provide a federal income tax deduction for the premiums paid.
3. Make an outright gift of an existing policy. You can name Vianney as the owner and beneficiary of an existing policy. You can qualify for federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize on your taxes, and if you continue to pay premiums on the policy, each payment is tax deductible as a charitable gift. 

A charitable gift annuity offers benefits for both Vianney and the donor. As a donor, you make a significant donation of cash or securities, and in return receive fixed payments from Vianney for the rest of your life. You may also be eligible for an income tax deduction for your gift.

A charitable remainder trust can generate significant income streams for you or your beneficiaries. After an initial contribution to a trust, a designated beneficiary receives annual payments from the trust over a specified time period. Upon the end of the time period or death of the last beneficiary, the remaining balance of the CRT is distributed to specified charitable organizations. 

Benefits include:

• Providing a steady stream of income (as opposed to a lump-sum inheritance).
• Building a legacy of support for the Vianney Mission.
• Creating a charitable income tax deduction for a CRUT.
• Reducing a portion of the capital gains on appreciated assets.

A charitable lead trust is the reverse of a charitable remainder trust. A designated charitable organization receives income from the assets in the trust for a specified time period. After that time, the assets in the trust revert back to you or your heirs.
