Thank you for visiting my teacher web page! To make a very long story somewhat shorter, I graduated from the University of Missouri - Rolla with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering a LONG, LONG TIME ago (as the song goes!), and worked as a project engineer at Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan for 2 years. After being transferred to their Cincinnati, Ohio manufacturing facility (where I worked for another 5 years or so), I accepted a position as a regional sales representative for a small equipment distributor in Cincinnati, and ultimately moved to St. Louis to help with a start-up of a satellite office.
Feeling unfulfilled and unchallenged, I decided to switch careers and explore the teaching profession. I accepted a position with the Construction Careers Center Charter High School (located in downtown St. Louis), where I worked for seven years as a math and science teacher, teaching everything from basic "construction math" skills to Introduction to Engineering...never can a student ask me, "how am I gonna use this stuff" without getting an earful of real, practical applications!
On a personal note, I've been married to an incredibly understanding and tolerant woman (Diane) for 23 years, and have 3 terrific children (Luke is 14 and a freshman at Vianney, David is 16 and junior at Vianney as well, and Brian is 20, a junior at Webster University).
This is my 6th year of teaching at St. John Vianney, and I'm looking forward to another successful year...it's a great day to be a Griffin!
